OpenEMR FAQ's
Step 1: Uninstall XAMPP
- Click the Start button and type Control Panel → Open it.
- Click Programs & Features (or Uninstall a Program).
- Find XAMPP, click on it, and select Uninstall.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to remove it.
Step 2: Delete the XAMPP Folder
- Open File Explorer (press Win + E).
- Go to C:\ (or wherever XAMPP was installed).
- Right-click the xampp folder and select Delete.
Step 3: Restart the Computer
Step 4: After restarting, try searching for XAMPP in the Start menu. If nothing shows up, it’s entirely removed!
Step 5: Now, please try installing XAMPP again by carefully following the instructions I’ve included.
Option 1: Open your web browser in Incognito Mode (Private Browsing) and attempt to log in.
Option 2: Try a Different Browser – use Chrome, Edge, or Firefox (whichever they haven’t tried yet).
Option 3: Clear the Browser Cache
- If the error is still there:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (on Mac: Cmd + Shift + Delete).
- Choose Cookies and Cache and click Clear.
- Close the browser and reopen it.
- Try opening OpenEMR again.
Option 4: Restart Everything
- Close all browser tabs where OpenEMR is open.
- Open XAMPP Control Panel.
- Click Stop for both Apache and MySQL.
- Click Start again for both.
- Restart the Computer
- Now, try logging into OpenEMR again.
Step 1: Make Sure XAMPP is Running
- Before proceeding, confirm that XAMPP (Apache and MySQL) is running and set to start automatically when Windows restarts.
- Open XAMPP Control Panel.
- Check if Apache and MySQL are running (they should have a green status).
- If they are not running, click Start next to both.
- To set XAMPP to start automatically when Windows boots, follow the steps in the installation guide.
- Now, try running the OpenEMR installation again. If the error still appears, continue to the next step.
Step 2: Manually Set Folder Permissions
- Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\xampp\htdocs\openemr\sites\default\
- Right-click the documents folder and select Properties.
- Go to the Security tab and click Edit.
- Under Group or user names, select Users (or add it if missing).
- Check Full Control under Allow.
- Click Apply and OK to save changes.
Step 3: Restart Apache in XAMPP
- Open XAMPP Control Panel.
- Click Stop for Apache.
- Click Start again for Apache.
