Unit Clerk EHR for Medical Programs and Hospitals

The most advanced and realistic training available.

Unit Clerk EHR Training Delivers real hospital EHR workflow experience

Choice’s Unit Clerk EHR Simulation provides colleges with a modern, applied way to prepare students for hospital-based administrative workflows commonly used in inpatient and acute-care settings.

The simulation supports applied learning by:

  • Aligning core EHR activities with HICA practice areas

  • Supporting programs that prepare learners for certification pathways

  • Emphasizing formative, hands-on skill development in realistic scenarios

Learners gain practical experience navigating hospital-style patient charts, completing documentation, and following authentic administrative workflows — all within a secure, non-clinical sandbox environment designed for education.

The Unit Clerk EHR Simulation can be delivered in multiple formats to support diverse program models. It may be integrated with an institution’s LMS for cohort-based learning, accessed through Choice’s LMS with instructor oversight, or offered as a standalone online course. This flexibility supports on-campus programs, distance education, continuing education, and independent learners.

Who is the Training For?

This training is designed for a wide range of programs and learners, including post-secondary healthcare and unit clerk programs, workforce development initiatives, and settlement or bridging programs supporting newcomers to Canada and internationally trained healthcare professionals. It provides practical exposure to hospital-style electronic health record (EHR) workflows — helping students and adult learners gain system confidence, strengthen résumés, and develop competencies employers are seeking in hospital administrative and unit clerk roles. All learning takes place in a secure, education-only simulation environment with no live patient data or clinical risk.

More Than Software

Choice EMR Learning pairs the simulation with structured curriculum, assessments, and instructor resources, delivering a complete, education-ready solution — not just access to software.

Program & Enrollment Advantage

  • Offer hands-on EHR system experience aligned with current hospital workflows
  • Equip students with practical, employer-relevant skills they can confidently articulate on résumés and in interviews
  • Strengthen your program with applied training — not paper-based or theoretical simulations
  • Improve program visibility as prospective students actively search for training that includes real EHR experience

Why This Matters

  • Graduates gain resume-worthy, in-demand EHR competencies employers expect
  • Programs become easier to market, differentiate, and justify to prospective students
  • Students are more likely to choose programs offering real system experience — not paper-based simulations
  • Supports program visibility and enrollment growth by attracting students seeking job-ready training

Hospital EHR Simulation

EHR-only focus designed for hospital and inpatient workflows.

Students train inside a realistic hospital EHR environment, practicing core Unit Clerk and administrative workflows such as:

  • Patient registration and admission workflows
  • Bed management and census tracking
  • Orders, charts, and documentation flow
  • Interdepartmental communication and task management

No live patient data. No production system risk. Education-only use.

Flexible Delivery Model

  • Self-led online option for independent learners
  • Instructor-led classroom delivery for cohort-based programs
  • Compatible with institutional LMS environments

Choice EMR Learning provides centralized setup and ongoing support, reducing technical and instructional overhead for your team.

Centralized Control & Instructor Experience

  • Single point of contact for setup, support, and updates
  • Centralized control over what instructors and students see
  • No instructor system configuration or software management required
  • Annual workflow and curriculum updates included

Stackable EHR Competency

  • An optional stackable EHR competency add-on is in development, allowing institutions to:
  • Offer a resume-verifiable EHR competency alongside program completion
  • Create an additional value layer that students can opt into
  • Support workforce readiness and employer confidence

Consider also adding EMR Training?

Institutions may optionally layer in clinic-based EMR exposure at a later stage:

  • Accuro EMR – Canadian physician clinic workflows
  • Jane App – allied health and outpatient environments

These can be offered as separate modules or post-graduate add-ons, without impacting the core program.

Course Bundles & Savings

Course Bundles: Take advantage of bundled course offerings for added value and savings.

When institutions or learners purchase both the Accuro EMR and the Unit Clerk EHR simulation together, a 20% bundle discount is applied.

This bundle allows learners to gain experience across clinic and hospital workflows, while institutions can offer a broader, more attractive training package without additional setup or infrastructure.

Group Pricing & Licensing Model

  • Per-student, per-use pricing
  • No long-term infrastructure commitment
  • Colleges and instructors access the platform at no cost
  • You only pay for the students you have

Introductory group pricing available.

Support for CHIMA / HICA Pathways

Designed to Strengthen Workforce & Certification Readiness

Many Canadian Medical Office Assistant (MOA) and healthcare-administration programs prepare learners for certification pathways such as the Health Information–Certified Associate (HICA) designation. Choice EMR Learning supports this readiness by providing hands-on, applied EMR and EHR workflow training within realistic healthcare software environments.

Choice EMR Learning is not a certifying body and does not grant HICA certification. Our role is to support applied skill development that complements classroom learning and certification preparation.

This Section Includes

Applied EMR & EHR Skill Development

Learners practice real administrative workflows — including registration, scheduling, documentation, and billing — inside industry-style EMR and EHR simulations. This moves learning beyond theory into practical, workforce-relevant experience.

Curriculum Alignment Support
EMR and EHR activities can be mapped to health-information and healthcare-administration competency areas commonly associated with certification readiness. This supports program documentation, curriculum reviews, and learner preparation.

Assessment & Completion Verification (Optional Add-On)
Applied EMR and EHR work does not auto-grade by design. For programs that prefer not to manually review in-system task evidence, Choice offers an optional end-of-term completion verification service. This includes manual review of defined tasks and a standardized completion report. Academic grading decisions remain with the institution.

Exam & Professional Readiness Support (Optional)
Programs may supplement applied training with optional supports such as readiness workshops, practice assessments, or exam-strategy sessions aligned to certification domains.

Documentation & Reporting Support
Where required, programs can receive standardized reports confirming system-based task completion to support internal records and program outcomes.

Core Learning Outcomes

  • Understand and apply key medical terminology and workflows

  • Registering and admitting patients
  • Managing patient records, transfers, and discharges
  • Ordering lab tests, medications, and imaging
  • Documenting vitals and care notes
  • Generating and printing discharge summaries
